Gustavo Brito
Musical Experiencie
Gustavo Brito was born in 1962 in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico.
My beginning in music was thanks to my grandparents, Eufracia López Estrada and Ignacio Brito Alcántara. I was 3 years old when they gave me my first reed flute and a chair made my size. The following year, another flute, made of the same material. Every Sunday they would take me to a plaza where an indigenous flutist played. He was covered entirely in manta cloth, and with his transverse reed flute, he conveyed such beautiful and profound feeling through his music. At the same time, they would take me to watch the Chichimeca (Aztec) dances. My grandparents passed away soon after, but their initiation with me in dance, music, and art was definitive.

Thanks to Jesica Ruiz and Eva Weber for their support and this transverse bass flute

In high school Preparatoria Libertad, I performed at the pre-inauguration with melodies on the reed flute accompanied by a turtle shell and drum—native music of Mexico.
Later, my older brother, Armando Brito, gave me my first classical transverse flute. That is when I formally entered the Centro Cultural Universitario, music, theater, and dance (CCU-UAEM), where I participated with the Camerata of the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos, Mexico, and had the opportunity to perform at the Nezahualcóyotl Concert Hall and the Ollin Yoliztli Hall.
At the same time, I also played with other cultural and versatile music groups.

In 6th grade, my mother, Eva Montelongo, gave me another flute, this time made of plastic. In secondary school, she gave me a melodion; there I learned to play it and spent some time in the choir under the direction of Maestro Fulgencio Ávila Guevara. At the same time, I joined a Latin American music group, playing Andean flutes and the charango.
